The Season of Advent
The season of Advent begins on Sunday 2nd December. It was once a season of fasting, the pre-Christmas equivalent to Lent. It still is, within the Church, a time of reflection, as we prepare for one of the great Christian festivals – Christmas, or the Feast of the Incarnation (literally, God made flesh). These days it is difficult not to be rushed along by commercial pressure into beginning to celebrate Christmas so early, that by 24th December we are suffering from Christmas fatigue!
We have managed to maintain a Communion Service on each of the four Sundays of Advent, so come along, and as the candles are lit on the Advent Ring, journey with the prophets, Mary, John the Baptist and all the people of God, and be reminded of the excitement of expecting God with us – Immanuel.

Please Remember in Prayer
In the Church:
All churches and communities dedicated to Christ the King.
That all Christian people may have the confidence to share their faith
in God, the creator, who loves his creation and rules over all things.
In our communities and nation
The homeless and those who live in poverty, and those who work to help and support them.
All support agencies for those with mental health issues,
especially those working with children and young people.
In the world
Matthew Hedges and his family as they wait for the
outcome of his plea for clemency in the UAE.
All who suffer within our own communities, including Barbara French.
Those who have died
Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord;
and let light perpetual shine upon them.
Amelia (Millie) Reeves (Jan and family), Quita Jenkinson (family).
The collect prayer for Christ the king
God the Father, help us to hear the call of Christ the King
and to follow in his service,
whose kingdom has no end;
for he reigns with you and the
Holy Spirit, one God, one glory.
